Overview
All items submitted by students appear in your gradebook, auto-scored in a pending state, waiting for you to Review and Approve the grades. You can accept the auto-scored grades, or for teachers that want greater control over the scores, you can manually review questions and make adjustments.
This article discusses how to manually review and edit 4th edition scores in the Grade-Grid design. To learn more about how auto-grading works, click here. |
Review to Manually Score Answers
When looking at the Grade-Grid you have the option to Review and manually edit any student's grade on any assessment. To review an individual student's grade, click on that square in the Grade-Grid. To review all of the students on one screen, click Review in the column header.
Pro Tip: Click Review in the column header to quickly score all the students' work on one screen.
The system groups students' answers to specific questions together, allowing teachers to more easily focus on only one question at a time. By default, any questions that have already been reviewed are hidden, so you can immediately see which questions you need to grade.
On the Review Screen you will see variations based on the type of submission you are reviewing (video page guided notes, chapter review, post test, etc.)
UnReviewed Answers are questions that are still pending and which you need to review. This is the main area in which you will work. In this section you will see a question and correct answer with a light gray background. Below the question are three columns: Student name, Student Answer, and Score. This allows you to easily review all students answers for a specific question without context switching.
The score should be pre-filled by our auto-grading process. For the free-response questions (short answer and essay questions) we have pre-filled the full points value (we call this credit for completion). If you have a student whose answers deserves less than the full credit you can just type in their points score. You only have to enter the points where less than full credit needs to be given.
Click the Mark as Reviewed button to save that points value for that student's answer. Once a question is marked as reviewed it disappears and moves to the hidden Reviewed Answers section and the next student question moves up an takes its place. Move through your list of students one by one, question by question.
Reviewed Answers are questions that you have already reviewed. These are hidden automatically as you review each student's answers. You can see the questions you have already worked on by expanding this section. This grading format allows you to partially grade an assessment with your work auto-saving, allowing you to come back to the gradebook and pick up where you left off.
Multiple Choice Answers are automatically scored by our system, and the points value cannot be changed by the teacher. There is only one right choice and the student either got it or didn't. We automatically hide all multiple choice questions on the grading screen, marking them as reviewed, to help you quickly get to the questions you actually need to grade.
